Just in time for boot season.
By Brie Schwartz and Jamie Ballard
Though Gen Z may have declared that the skinny jean was dead, we’re here to report that the great resuscitation is upon us. Spotted on longtime fan Kate Middleton, and Tracee Ellis Ross, as well as the runways (looking at you, Celine, Saint Laurent, Miu Miu, and Tory Burch), the style is alive and well. However, Glamour editors didn’t need a princess or Prada to convince us. I, for one, have been a devotee since I first saw Funny Face as a tyke (technically Audrey wears black cigarette pants, but the simple silhouette evokes the same timelessness). While we maintain that the almighty skinny jean is immortal, when flared denim and mom jeans became de rigueur over the past two years, skinny jeans were more difficult to come by, meaning loyalists like me have had to seek out alternative brands as our go-tos pivoted production to slouchier bottoms. Now, they can be found again on the shelves of J.Crew and Anthropologie, to name a few retailers, but during the drought, my treasure hunt helped me unearth previously untapped gems from Amazon and Old Navy. From ultra-comfortable stretchy picks to high-waisted options to wear with your cropped tops, these are the best skinny jeans on the market—all tried, tested, and revered by editors and reviewers alike.

Levi's Women's 711 Skinny Jeans
There’s a reason that Levi’s are such a sartorial mainstay. “These slim jeans are a comfortable classic,” says Glamour fashion curator Leilani McQuay. “I can dress them up with pumps for a night out or rock them with a cool graphic tee and sneakers for a casual vibe. While trends may come and go, my love for skinny jeans remains unwavering.” Bonus: You can find Levi’s on Amazon for under $30, making them among the most affordable options that don’t skimp on quality.

Abercrombie & Fitch High Rise Skinny Jean
Most of Abercrombie’s denim selection is offered in various inseams, from extra short to extra long, so you can find the right fit for your height. This is especially useful for skinny styles, which don’t look ideal with a bunched hem or one that’s too cropped. The brand’s skinny black jeans feature a high-rise to show off the waist before tapering to the ankle in a formfitting silhouette that is made even more appealing thanks to the comfortable fit and stretch.
- Size range: 23–37; available in five lengths
- Rise: 10 1/2" high-rise
- Colors: Available in eight washes and treatments

Pistola Aline High-Rise Skinny
These high-rise skinny jeans have a truly tapered fit, going from 13" around the knee to 10" around the ankle. They’re available in a classic dark blue color that’s easy to style with your favorite women’s T-shirt, but what makes them truly stand out is the pockets. “The pockets are good because they’re wide and deep enough on the front and back,” public health researcher Jeanne Chauffour shared with Glamour. “Plus, they’re comfortable and stretchy.”
- Size range: 24–33
- Rise: 10.5" mid-rise
- Colors: Dark blue
Old Navy Midrise Rockstar Super-Skinny Jeans for Women

Old Navy Midrise Rockstar Super-Skinny Jeans for Women
One of the best buys for your buck, Old Navy’s Rockstar skinny jeans—which are available in sizes 00 through 30—come in a variety of styles for different body types (high-waist, mid-rise, and curvy), lengths, shades, hems, and degrees of rips. Our favorite thing about them (besides the fact that they’re under $50) is that they have just enough stretch to make them ultra comfortable—truly they feel like sweatpants, which is why I’ve lived in them. They do stretch out a bit though, but nothing a trip through the dryer can’t fix.
- Size range: 00–30; available in regular, tall, and petite
- Rise: Mid-rise
- Colors: Available in four blue rinses, as well as black

Jessica Simpson Women's Kiss Me Skinny Jeans
The Jessica Simpson Kiss Me Skinny Jeans are flattering on basically everyone, not to mention affordable. “These, and all her jeans, are durable and fit the curves,” communications consultant Jennifer Moxley shared with Glamour. “I’ve been a 0 to 5 over the years and have a larger bottom and smaller waist, and it’s hard to find jeans that size that don’t have the back gap on me.” They’re available in a curated selection of colors, including an eye-catching indigo and bleach pattern that’s unlike any pair I’ve ever seen.
- Size range: 20–33
- Rise: 8" mid-rise
- Colors: Black, medium blue, indigo-and-bleach, faded black, white

7 for All Mankind Slim Illusion High-Rise Ankle Skinny Jeans
I’ve been wearing skinnies from seven, since the aughts, because it’s one of few quality denim brands that have consistently stocked mid-rise. Though I don’t often find high-waist skinny jeans comfortable, this incredibly soft, stretchy leggings-like style is the exception. They do lose their shape quickly, but they rebound after a wash. That said, don’t be afraid to size down if you opt for a pair like this that’s made of a modal and cotton blend with a touch of spandex.
- Size range: 23–34
- Rise: 10" mid-rise
- Colors: Medium blue, faded blue, black

Good American Good Waist Skinny Jeans
While Glamour contributor Andrea Navarro isn’t a skinny-jeans enthusiast (she’s a straight-leg girlie), this Good American pair, which runs from 00 through 30 plus, is her go-to when she’s wearing fall boots. “Good American’s jeans are stretchy, comfortable, and don’t have any weird gaps when you sit down,” she says. “They’re also designed to fit you throughout body fluctuations (like that time of the month).”
- Size range: 00–30
- Rise: Ultra high-rise
- Colors: Light blue, medium blue, indigo, dark blue

Mother The Dazzler Mid-Rise Ankle Straight Leg Jeans
These splurge-worthy jeans are as close as it gets to timeless. The slightly tapered straight-leg design is inspired by retro silhouettes and is sure to stay in style as denim trends come and go. They’re also available with a raw hem if you prefer that look. Like I said, I’m faithful to mid-rise jeans, which limits trendy options, but I love the high-rise look of these and the ankle crop (I’m 5'5" and they hit just right). They’re also sweatpant soft.
- Size range: 23–34
- Rise: 10" mid-rise
- Colors: Available in four blue rinses

Gap Mid Rise True Skinny Jeans
“My fave denim brand is Gap,” says Glamour digital director Perrie Samotin. “I find its jeans more flattering than designer brands.” And I’m totally aligned. They have the best skinny white jeans that I’ve tried (and I’ve tested many over the years), which are thick enough that they aren’t see-through yet still comfy and let you move with ease. The true-blue iterations shown here are no different and have the same high stretch recovery for flexibility.

- Rise: 10" mid-rise

Banana Republic Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans
Get the look of a lived-in pair of vintage jeans in this mid-rise pair with its subtle faded wash and whiskering detail. - Size range: 24–33; regular, tall, and petite
- Rise: Mid-rise
- Colors: Dark wash, pure white, black
L'Agence Margot Crop Skinny Jeans

L'AGENCE Margot Crop Skinny Jeans
“I recently tried on several denim styles from L’Agence and they were beyond comfortable,” says Glamour contributor Paula Lee. “Each pair, from skinny crop jeans to wide leg, is made with soft and high-quality fabric. The skinnies have that second-skin look, and while at first glance on the hanger they didn’t look like they would fit me, once I pulled them on, they molded to my body. Plus, the strategic fading serves to define and contour the legs.” With extra stretch and a just-right cropped length, this is a pair that can see you through casual daytime or nights out.
- Size range: 23–34
- Rise: 9 1/2"
- Colors: Medium blue, light vintage blue
